The Ultimate Fall Bucket List

I finally convinced myself that you can like other seasons besides Summer and that April - December is the absolute best! January - March can go away though 😂 I love those transitions between seasons and how nature lets you watch everything change. The coolest part about that is how we change with her!

Fall is my third favourite season but when I'm in it, I'm IN IT 110%! Everything from the crisp air, fuzzy slippers, and picking out some pretty pumpkins, I love to experience it all!

Fall is a pretty relaxing time of year, especially after the hustle and bustle of Summer. Brandon and I have our own traditions that we like to continue every year in autumn. We also like to add new ones in too so you'll find those in the list below!

Okay, let’s dig right into this!! Here we go...

1. Decorate The House

I think this is the first thing on everyone's list, am I right?! Brandon and I have finally put all the Summer items away and now that it's officially Fall I can bring all my tote bins out and decorate till my hearts content!

2. Plant Some Mums

I may have started on this one by accident! This is a new one to the list since we have a front yard but I'm sure other's already make this a tradition. Currently, I have a large, dead, pink mum that I need to replace and a smaller white and orange one sitting on my front steps. I found them at my local nursery, Art Knapp, for $12.99!

3. Apple Picking

We've been doing this for a few years now and have our favourite farm that we go to is Willow View Farms! Their farm actually burned down a few years ago and the surrounding farms and neighbours helped them get back on their feet. Their establishment is so nice! We love to go there to get our pumpkins as well since they have a huge variety.

4. Enjoy A Favourite Fall Drink

I think we all know which flavour we're craving here... Let me know in the comments if you know which one I'm talking about!

5. Nature Hike

Bundle up in our Bella Jacket, leggings and some boots and travel or walk to your favourite trail to watch the leaves change!

6. Visit A Pumpkin Patch

This is non-negotiable! You can't go through Fall without strapping on some rubber boots and finding the perfect pumpkin! What's the biggest pumpkin you've ever found?

7. Fall Photoshoot

Grab the hubs, the kids, the dogs, a photographer and head out to a place that is special to your family. Get in some action shots and now you have memories you can look back on!

8. Thrift a Cozy Sweater

This one is new for us! Thrifting has become a huge welcoming trend in Canada since more and more people are donating to their local non-profit organizations. Find a cozy sweater at your local Value Village or check out the options we have here.

9. Create or Buy an Autumn Bouquet

Give some life to your home and bring in the Fall colours with an Autumn floral arrangement! I love heading down the street to my favourite nursery for all my floral needs.

10. Simmer Potpourri On The Stove

My favourite potpourri mix is orange peels, cinnamon sticks and cloves but you can also add vanilla and bay leaves!

11. Bring Out The Comfy Slippers

Where's your go to place to find slippers? I recently found llama slippers at Walmart and I am IN LOVE! They have colourful pom poms on each side and they are incredibly comfortable!

12. Enjoy a Caramel Apple

When I was in my early teens, I had to get braces (if you had them you know where I'm going with this) and it was at a fair or something like that and I was determined to try a caramel apple since I'd never had one. I was already bad at eating apples so I'm not sure why I did this but all that caramel and apple skin got stuck in my braces. Long story short, I couldn't even finish my apple because I was taking too much time trying to get all the caramel out of my braces LOL! So, message here...if you have braces, just go for the cotton candy LOL!

13. Roast Marshmallows

Whether you're outside or if a fire pit isn't accessible, I promise you can still roast marshmallows! This tradition is carried on beyond Summer into Fall and I believe everyone should be able to enjoy this activity! I recently discovered that if you take a terra cotta pot and line it with aluminum foil, then fill with coal you can light it for a small flame. Enjoy outside with some fuzzy blankets and a movie.

14. Go Camping

I really miss camping! Brandon and I don't go anymore. This used to be a tradition of ours when we were younger and living at home. Back then we could endure sleeping in a tent and a blow up mattress. Now, I'd really prefer a trailer and some privacy LOL!

15. Bake Some Pies

Call your mom, your grandma (probably your best bet), your best friend, your aunt, your hubby, your kids, or your dog to make some pies! Go on Pinterest and brainstorm some recipes.  A few years ago I did a braided edge around my pie and I LOVED it! It was so much fun getting to be creative!

16. Bike Ride

We have a dyke by our house beside the river that we love to go ride on. Take some snacks and drinks and turn it into a picnic!

17. Pick Halloween Costumes

I absolutely love Halloween and getting dressed up! It's even easier to get costumes when so many stores pop up for the season! What are you guys dressing up as for Halloween?!

18. Trick Or Treating

Brandon and I don't go trick or treating but if we had a kid then we would. Halloween night is watching scary movies and handing out candy LOL!

19. Indulge in Halloween Candy

Repeat after me. This step is not. to. be. missed.

20. Go On A Hay Ride

These are mostly offered at the pumpkin patch and if you have a little one they will absolutely love it!

21. Watch Scary Movies

I started on these the week before the first day of Fall! Brandon and I have our favourites such as Hocus Pocus, Halloweentown, Monster House, Stranger Things just to name a few. List your favourites in the comments, I'd love to hear what they are!

22. Decorate The House For Halloween

When Brandon was little, his dad used to make all the Halloween decorations and a lot of them were animatronic. He put so much time and effort into creating the scariest house on the street. I appreciate those who put in that kind of effort because it makes the season that much more memorable and exciting!

23. Go To A Local Market

There are so many happening all the way into December! I find the easiest way to search for these markets is hopping onto Facebook events and checking your local area there. Don't forget to bring your market bags!

24. Shop For Fall Candles

Or make your own! You can find inexpensive soy wax on Amazon. How fun would it be to customize your own candle!

25. Go To A Corn Maze

Better yet, go to a HAUNTED corn maze. If you're looking to spice things up, that should do it!

26. Visit A Haunted House

In the lower mainland in BC, we have Playland that operates Fright Night which is just FULL of haunted houses and people in scary costumes walking around. If you don't want to drive all the way out to Vancouver and pay a heavy price ticket, you can search on google to find local haunted houses. Some people create haunted houses for charity.

27. Make A Fall Wreath

This is a really fun activity to do on a rainy day or when you're kept indoors. Search on pinterest for some inspiration and then head over to your nearest dollarstore or Micheals for everything that you'll need!

28. Make Homemade Chili

I mean, it doesn't have to be chili, it could be your favourite soup or stew! Make it even easier by throwing it in the slow cooker! Thousands of recipes can be found over at Pinterest!

There you have it! The ultimate Fall bucket list! There are some new things I added to the list this year that we're going to try and some traditions that I wanted to share with all of you :) What have you crossed off the list so far? Let me know in the comments!
